Overview

This Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue offered by Saferight is an Australian nationally recognised qualification and is the mining and resources industry standard for those employed or seeking employment within firefighting or emergency response fields. This mines rescue qualification reflects the role of emergency response and rescue team members working in the resources and infrastructure industry.

The course has theoretical and practical components and modules are taught by Saferight trainers who have current practical experience in fire and emergency response.

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

      • RIIERR301E – Respond to work site incidents

      • RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes

      • RIIWHS201E – Work Safely & Follow WHS Policies and Procedures

      • HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid

      Group A Elective – 1 unit:

      • PUASAR022 – Participation in a Rescue Operation

      Group B Electives – 7 units (2 must be coded RIIERR)

      • PUASAR032 – Undertake Vertical Rescue

      • PUASAR025 – Undertake Confined Space Rescue

      • PUASAR024 – Undertake Road Crash Rescue

      • RIIERR201E – Conduct Fire Team Operations

      • RIIERR302E – Response to Local Emergencies and Incidents

      • PUAFIR324 – Render Hazardous Materials Incidents Safe

      *Pre-Requisites Units Under Group B are listed below and are covered in Saferight’s Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue training programme:

      • PUAFIR207 – Operate Breathing Apparatus Open Circuit

      • PUAFIR210 – Prevent Injury

      • PUAFIR306 – Identify, Detect and Monitor Hazardous Materials at an Incident

      Group C Elective – 1 unit:

      • PUAEQU001 – Prepare, Maintain and Test Response Equipment

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to read, write and understand English

  2. Present photo I.D. on arrival

  3. Complete a ‘Fitness to Complete Training’ form. The student is required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation

  4. Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test to determine if the applicant has the required skill level to complete the course.
