Overview

This Conduct Roller Operations training course in Perth is aimed at those currently working or seeking work in operational roles in the mining and construction industries and will be required to operate a roller.

Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.

Students will attain the theoretical knowledge and practical application and understanding required to safely and efficiently operate a roller and will be able to:

  1. Plan Roller Operations: Interpret documentation, clarify work requirements, identify hazards, select PPE, implement traffic management, choose suitable equipment, prepare for emergencies, and coordinate on-site.

  2. Operate Roller: Conduct pre-start checks, rectify/report faults, drive and operate roller according to site conditions, manage equipment performance, ensure safety, and perform post-operation inspection.

  3. Relocate Roller: Prepare for relocation, safely move between work areas, assist with loading/unloading.

  4. Housekeeping: Clean work area, manage hazards, and complete necessary documentation.

This course consists of two essential components: Theoretical and Practical.

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

Entry Requirements

To enter the Roller Ticket Perth / Roller Operator Ticket, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be 18 years old and above

  2. Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.

  3. Present a valid photo I.D. on arrival

  4. If you have any physical conditions that may affect your ability to complete a course, please visit a doctor and obtain a “Fit for Work” certificate, and send it to our bookings email.

    1. Please note, Saferight reserves the right to cancel your enrolment if this documentation is not provided and you are deemed unfit for training. Additionally, cancellation fees will apply if adequate notice is not given.

  5. Wear steel cap boots, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt

  6. Bring along a hi-vis vest

  7. Ability to read, write and understand English

Individuals holding a student visa are not eligible to enrol in, participate in, or attend this course, whether face-to-face or online, as Saferight is not registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). Student visa holders are encouraged to seek training with a CRICOS-registered institution to meet their requirements.
