Overview

This RIIVEH304E – Conduct tip truck operations is for those currently working or seeking work in operational roles in the mining and construction industries and will be required to operate a tip truck in the workplace.

Students will attain the theoretical knowledge and the practical application to operate a tip truck properly and will be able to:

  1. Preparation: Confirm work requirements, access documentation, select tools, and apply environmental protection for tip truck operations.

  2. Pre-Operational Checks: Perform standard start-up procedures and check controls.

  3. Operation: Manage hazards, engine power, and gear coordination while monitoring road conditions for safety.

  4. Loading and Transporting: Position truck efficiently, control movements, assess load, and ensure secure transportation.

  5. Maintenance: Conduct inspections, replace parts, and perform scheduled maintenance.

  6. Cleanup: Dispose of materials and store equipment properly.

This course consists of two essential components: Theoretical and Practical.

Outline

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be 18 years old and above

  2. Ability to read, write and understand English

  3. Present photo I.D. on arrival

  4. Complete a ‘Fitness to Complete Training’ form upon arrival at the training facility. The student is required to declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation

  5. Wear steel cap boots and remove all jewellery prior to commencement

  6. Bring along a hi-vis vest
