Overview

This Conduct Water Vehicle Operations training course in Perth is aimed at those currently working or seeking work in operational roles in the mining and construction industries and will be required to operate a water vehicle.

Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.

Students will attain the theoretical knowledge and practical application and understanding required to safely and efficiently operate a water vehicle and will be able to:

  1. Plan Water Vehicle Operations: Access operation documents, clarify work instructions, assess risks, select PPE, follow traffic management, prepare for emergencies, and coordinate on-site.

  2. Operate Water Vehicle: Perform pre-start checks, rectify/report faults, operate vehicle as per manufacturer requirements, manage engine power, and ensure safety.

  3. Water Distribution: Position vehicle for loading/distribution, adhere to capacity limits, operate to avoid surge/sway, efficiently distribute water, and conduct post-operation checks.

  4. Housekeeping: Clear area, manage hazards, and complete necessary documentation.

This course consists of two essential components: Theoretical and Practical.

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competency:

Entry Requirements

To enter the Water Cart Ticket Perth WA / Water Cart Operator course, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be 18 years old and above

  2. Applicants are required to hold a valid Class C licence as a minimum. If you’ve just arrived in Australia, you can join the course with your international C-Class licence, as it’s valid for up to three months. After that, you’ll need a WA driver’s licence or an International Driver’s Licence Permit (IDP) to participate.

    1. Please note that you will need an HR (Heavy Rigid) Vehicle Licence in order to drive a Dump Truck in the metro area. Please go to the Department of Transport website to apply for this licence as it is not included in the training provided.

  3. Present photo I.D. on arrival

  4. If you have any physical conditions that may affect your ability to complete a course, please visit a doctor and obtain a “Fit for Work” certificate, and send it to our bookings email.

    1. Please note, Saferight reserves the right to cancel your enrolment if this documentation is not provided and you are deemed unfit for training. Additionally, cancellation fees will apply if adequate notice is not given.

  5. Wear steel cap boots, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt

  6. Bring along a hi-vis vest

  7. Ability to read, write and understand English

Individuals holding a student visa are not eligible to enrol in, participate in, or attend this course, whether face-to-face or online, as Saferight is not registered with CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students). Student visa holders are encouraged to seek training with a CRICOS-registered institution to meet their requirements.
