Overview

This course covers the competency associated with the identification, avoidance, review, and evaluation of workplace risks and hazards, maintenance of personal safety and the reporting to supervisors and team members. The course participants will also learn the necessary skills to undertake rescue in confined spaces.

Outline

You will be enrolled into the following unit of competencies:

  • PUAFIR306 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident

  • PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation

  • PUASAR025 Undertake confined space rescue

Qualification Requirements:

  • PUAFIR306 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident (this will be attained during the course)

  • PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation (this will be attained during the course)

  • PUAFIR207 Operate breathing apparatus open circuit

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid (issued within the last 3 years)

    Pre-requisite evidence is required to be provided before issuance of the Statement of Attainment.

Entry Requirements:

  • Photo ID must be presented on arrival at the training premises.

  • You will need a USI in order to receive your Qualification or Statement of Attainment for this training program.

  • Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and steel cap boots.

  • Face must be clean shaven to ensure an adequate seal with the BA face mask.

  • Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:

    • Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.

    • Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

Assessment Requirements:

  • The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

  • Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Delivery Mode:

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.

Duration:

The course will be conducted over 2 days.
